It seems that error is related to the EXE being unable to locate a DLL. Are you extracting the entire 7z or are you trying to run the EXE from the archive? I was able to successfully run the fully extracted EXE on one of my non dev machines.

Extracted everyting to a folder.

Do you have .NET 4.5 Framework installed?
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653
Dec 1, 2014 at 6:14 PM
Yes. I have tried reinstalling NET framework, and extracting the program to other folders, but still the same error.
Tomorrow I'll try to test it in another computer.

I suppose I'll just have to wait until the beta gets perfected.

I'm not sure of how much use this will be as I am unable to recreate the error, but have you looked at this KB from microsoft?
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2748646/es

Another thing you could try as a last resort would be to compile and debug the error with Visual Studio.
Dec 2, 2014 at 1:07 PM
I don't even know what Visual Studio is :-P

I'll try in a few days again, and in another computer too. I'll let you know the results then.

Tried in another computer, and at first it seems it's starting, and shows as a running process for a few seconds, but then stops and disappears from the list. Didn't even appear an error message.
Completely different than in my home computer, despite both running Windows 7 (64 bits).
I even installed a few windows pending updates before.

Could it be the OS language? A couple years back had problem with adobe acrobat and it was due to using the British English program in a Spanish OS, and changing settings didn't work. Had to get another acrobat version, since it didn't work at all.
And since I'm the only one reporting problems, it's the only I can think of.

I'm sorry about the extra work this problem is creating.

It could be the OS language. Below are a few things to try that might help, I'm not sure though.

Tried it in a Windows 8.1 tablet/laptop thing and mostly works. But when trying to open a download it crashes without error message (but it still sends its automated message to Microsoft).
I will try a few things in a couple days, including using a 32 bits system.

Then I'm currently stumped on what the problem could be. If you discover a fix or what could be causing it I would like to know.

Of course.
And sorry for the additional work I caused.

Ok, this is weird.
I downloaded the last version, extracted it, and the usual error message.
I copy it to a pendrive to test in another computer, but first I decide to try starting it from the pendrive... and it works!
Try again from the hard drive, and still doesn't work, but from the pendrive it does... strange.

I'm testing it a little with different titles and pages (I can't find options for "download all", or how to find what issues I have already downloaded), and let you know if anything new appears.
But for now, it only works from the pendrive.
Could it be the folder name or drive folder structure?

Yeah, at the moment there is not a "Download all the things" button as I'm trying to make the underlying code robust, the pretty stuff comes later.

It should not matter where the program is run as long as the DLLs are with the EXE. Since you are using a Spanish version of windows, does the folder path you are trying to run the program from contain any non-English characters? If you could paste/message me the two paths that would be great. If my hunch is right I think I know where it is crashing.
Dec 21, 2014 at 8:28 PM
Ah, I thought that perhaps I couldn't see the button for downloading all chapters because I wasn't looking where I should, being so white everywhere :-P

Th USB (working) copy is located in a folder called simply "mymanga" in the usb root.
The hard drive (nonworking) is the same, at c:\mymanga\

Tried "E" version today, and the same happens. Works from the USB, no matter the name of the folder I put it into, but not from the hard drive.
Haven't tested the USB in other computers yet (my parents have a Windows 8.1 in english, and I want to test it there, but they don't have internet connection).

Are the 'Chapter Archives' and 'Manga Archives' folder being created in c:\mymanga\ ? What happens if you copy the 'working' directory from your USB back to your HDD? Is this a shared computer? Does your user have permissions to write to that folder? Have you tried running the program as an administrator? Could you send/upload the mdmp from the crash?
Dec 25, 2014 at 6:44 PM
The folders were created before the crash. No permission problems with the folders.

But the idea of pasting from the USB to the HDD has worked!
Tried a couple things with it, and it seems I need to unpack the compressed file and execute once from the USB. After that, it keeps working when I put it in the hard drive.

Now, to look for new problems ;-)

Hello, I have the same problem as kellhound had. When starting the program, the folders create, but the program crashes. I have tried the USB technique but it doesn't work for me. I have also tried different compatibilities with admin permissions.
I am running english Win7 64bit.
Do you have any suggestion how to fix this? (.NET 4.5 Framework installation says that i have a newer version already installed)
Jan 6, 2015 at 12:17 AM
Did you try copying the compressed file to the USB, then unpacking and starting the program there?

Is the only thing that worked for me. If I copied the program already uncompressed, or having already started it in the hard drive, it didn't work.

Yes, i have tried copying compressed file and uncompressed folder to usb, none worked.

But, i downloaded 7z for extraction and now works fine even from the disk. I guess Winrar had some issues that i wasn't aware of.

Edit: Now that i am able to open the program, i don't see any icons(although i can click on where they should be):

Home looks like this: Image

Search looks like this: Image

Could you mention what version of windows and .NET you are running? The missing icons is odd as the font for them is built in to the binary.

Sorry, busy for some days.
NET version is 4.5.50709, windows 7 pro.

I am running win 7 64 bit and had .NET version 4.5.1, i upgraded to 4.5.2, still the same problem.

kellhound I'm wondering if you still experience crashes when you extract to your desktop. If you are, could you send me a memory dump of the crash? That would tell me immediately what is happening.
